Road work: bridge construction, grading, paving is listed at I-229 from 0.50 mile north of Western Avenue-Exit 2 to 0.25 mile south of East Twenty-sixth Street-Exit 5, according to the South Dakota Department of Transportation's traveller-information feed.
The feed gives the route as I-229, the reference milepost as 4.362 and the affected direction as Both Directions.
The feed publishes a listed start of March 30, 2026, 7 a.m. MDT / 8 a.m. CDT and no listed end — the feed publishes none for this record, which is how it represents work scheduled until further notice. Each is one instant shown in both of South Dakota's zones — Mountain first, Central second; they are the same moment. The feed names a route and not a zone, so 605Buzz does not pick one for you.
Whether this work is currently underway is not stated in this text: it depends on the time you are reading, and the department is the authority.
The feed publishes coordinates of 43.51143255, -96.72739994 for this record. Those are the department's own figures, reproduced as published; 605Buzz does not geocode.
The department's own description of the work, reproduced without changes as published in the feed:
The following road construction project is in progress: bridge construction, grading, and paving with lanes reduced to 2, speed limit 55 mph, traffic routed to opposing lanes, and truck speed limit 55 mph until further notice. I-229 Northbound On and Off Ramps Are Closed at Exit 4 for the 2026 Construction Season. The project includes the reconstruction of exit 4 (Cliff Avenue) with added lighting, signals, and mainline Interstate work. The Interchange will be reconstructed as a Single Point Urban Interchange. This project includes two structure replacements. I-229 at Minnesota Avenue will have shoulder widening and a temporary bridge installed for a future project.
That paragraph is the department's wording at the time this record was last read, including any dates or restrictions inside it.
